A Robotic Rehabilitation Patient Story

This video follows a patient’s robotic rehabilitation journey at Acibadem and shows how technology-assisted rehabilitation can become part of an individualized recovery programme — from guided movement training and therapeutic exercises to the ongoing work of improving mobility, function and independence.

Robotic rehabilitation uses computer-assisted and robotic systems to provide repetitive, controlled and task-specific movement training. It may be incorporated into rehabilitation programmes for selected patients affected by stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsonian disorders and other neurological conditions that limit movement and daily function.

Robotic systems can support gait, balance, arm and hand training while rehabilitation professionals adjust the programme according to the patient’s abilities, functional goals and progress. Sessions are combined with conventional physiotherapy and the other therapies the rehabilitation team prescribes.

Robotic therapy complements rather than replaces specialist-led rehabilitation. Which technologies are used, how often and for how long is decided by the rehabilitation team after a full functional assessment, and progress differs from patient to patient.
